Samantha and James' wedding was a long time coming. I met these two in the fall of 2019. Their wedding date was set for 18 months in the future: long before COVID was a threat or a household term. We were hopeful, excited, optimistic, all the emotions you feel when planning a "normal" wedding.
Here's the thing about these guys: they're a ray of sunshine to everyone, always. They're the kind of couple you gravitate towards because they're just....good to be around. They're solid with each other and really care about their friends and their community.
Enter COVID, plans changing, weddings getting rearranged....you know the drill. But here they are. 18 months later, with about 25 of their closest friends and family, committing to each other. That's the thing about marriage, right? When you lose everything else, you have a partner. Someone to go through it all with. It's nothing to be taken lightly. It's a gift.
As always, it was an honor to be a part of this wedding. I have a lot of weddings to catch up on from last year, and many more to celebrate this year, and I'm just so grateful. When budgets get trimmed and you get down to the essentials, I don't have words for what it means to be an "essential".
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
